David Gomes is a talented and veteran litigator. A natural in the courtroom, he brings uncanny vision to every case. Broadly experienced, David has conducted over 700 trials, applications, actions, and appeals, including civil and criminal jury trials and constitutional claims. He has advocated as lead counsel before the Supreme Court of Canada.

For David, no two cases or clients are alike. Each presents unique opportunities or challenges, and the ability to identify, harness, or confront these elements, whenever they arise, is critical. Cases are often won or lost at conception. Others fail when lawyers refuse to adjust their sails to shifting seas. Good advocacy requires imagination and the ability to improvise, tempered by a hard-headed respect for reality.

At Hummingbird Lawyers, David leads the Criminal Law section and assists in Family Law and Civil Litigation. His interests outside the law are wide-ranging, including emerging technology and the human condition. He also coaches minor hockey, entering his 24th season this fall.
