HUMMINGBIRD LAWYERS INVITE YOU TO
FEED THOSE IN NEED.
As lawyers, we are fortunate to be a part of the legal profession. We believe it is our duty to give back to those in less fortunate positions by continually supporting charities and the great work they do. The good news is many of us already support various charities throughout the GTA. However, there are still many firms out there that have not been able to or just have not found the right fit. We happened to be in the second category, and so we went out in search of something good to do and lo and behold we found a charity that not only could benefit from our help, but one that is a part of a foundation that binds all of our brothers and sisters in the legal community.
The cause is to support Lawyers Feed the Hungry – a charity that has been delivering hot, healthy meals 4 days a week to Toronto residents in need. The Law Society of Canada established this charity in 1998 to respond to the overwhelming number of persons in need within the city. It currently provides more than 100,000 meals a year. Lawyers built this charity over 15 years ago and now it needs our help to keep it running.
Our goal is to call on the legal community to join us in giving back to those in need by spreading awareness, fundraising, and simply volunteering time.
We understand that everyone is quite busy so we have selected one day a year where we ask for 5 minutes of your attention to visit the ‘feed those in need’ web page to either donate anywhere from $15 to $1,500 (the price of one meal service) OR sign up to volunteer your time to spend just over an hour to help at a breakfast, lunch, or dinner meal service.
On Thursday July 31, 2014 join Hummingbird Lawyers in feeding the hungry by having your firm either sponsor a future meal or sign up for a future date to volunteer your time.
Here’s how you can participate:
- RSVP NOW by quickly adding your name/email to the list.
- On Thursday, July 31, 2014 between 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. visit this very page and click on either the ‘Sponsor a meal’ link or the ‘Volunteer for a meal’ link (they will show up instead of the countdown timer below).
